History of Sivagiri Mutt
Sree Narayana Guru was an ardent lover of a serene ambiance and natural beauty at Varkala. So he built a shelter on the top of the Sivagiri hill in 1904, which later turned into a major pilgrim center. Later the Travancore State Government offered Sivagiri Hill to the Guru. Not only this, but some locals of nearby places also offered land to him. Hence, Sivagiri became the nerve center of all Sree Narayana Movements.
