Tirupati is one of the ancient and popular pilgrimage centres in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. It is situated at the bottom of the Tirumala Hills. This place is famous for the Temple of Lord Sri Venkateshwara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Historical Background
As such there is no evidence on the origin of the temple of Lord Venkateshwara, but its maintenance was done by various kingdoms including the Pallava kingdom, Chola Kingdom and the latest is the Vijayanagar Empire.
The temple received major contributions during the reign of Vijayanagar Empire.
Tirupti is considered to be one of the protected shrines in the world as it survived the Muslim invasions as well as Britishers from South India two times.

Tirupati experiences extremes of climate. It has hot summers, moderate monsoons and pleasant winters.
The best time to visit this place is from September to March.
