The locals or Kinnauras are no longer a homogenous group. The population has a good mix of Buddhists and Hindus. The women in this region are known for a special shawl that they wrap around themselves called Dohru. The people speak Kinnauri, Hindi, and English languages.
The Ukhyang Festival is celebrated in great spirit in Sangla.
