Presently the capital city of state of Chhattisgarh, Raipur was formerly the part of Madhya Pradesh before the formation of Chhattisgarh.
Historical Background
Apart from its history, the city is also important from archeological point of view. The district was believed to be a part of southern Kosal and was ruled by the Mauryas.
Another interesting fact about the city is that it was built by King Ramchandra’s son Brahmdeo Rai, whose capital was Khalwatika (now known as Khallari).

The city experiences a tropical wet and dry climate. The summers are quite hot, but winters are moderate. The best time to visit this place is in between October to March.
