This coastal city is a birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and Sudama (friend of Lord Krishna) and is located in the state of Gujarat. The natural resources of the city are in abundance and therefore make this place a truly tourist spot.
The city was earlier known by the name of “Pauravelakul” and after that “Sudamapuri”. It was ruled by the Governor of Gujarat and after that it came under the authority of he Peshawas. The Britishers took over the state in 1807.
In 1947, this place got merged with the United State of Kathiawar and finally in 1948, I became of part of Gujarat.
